No crowds, no hotels, just you, your crew, and endless desert skies. That\u2019s the magic of houseboating on Lake Powell<\/strong>, where the journey is as unforgettable as the destination. By far one of my favorite places on earth and a vacation I like to take yearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting to Lake Powell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lake Powell straddles the border of Utah and Arizona<\/strong>, with its main hub at Page, Arizona<\/strong>. The most common starting point is Wahweap Marina<\/strong>, just outside Page, though there are also marinas at Bullfrog, Antelope Point, and Halls Crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Closest Airport:<\/strong> Page Municipal Airport (small regional), or fly into Flagstaff or Las Vegas and drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Best Time to Visit:<\/strong> Late spring through early fall (May\u2013October), with summer being the most popular.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Houseboating Basics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If you don’t own a houseboat share or aren’t lucky enough to have a friend who does, renting is a great option. Renting a houseboat is like bringing your hotel with you \u2014 but on water. Boats range from cozy two-bedroom models to luxury vessels with hot tubs, waterslides, and multiple decks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Tip: Book your houseboat early, especially for summer dates. Rentals can sell out a year in advance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once you\u2019ve stocked up on food, water, and supplies (Page has grocery stores and outfitters), you\u2019ll get a short orientation before piloting the boat out into the open lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
